Miriam Roycroft and Lance Coburn present their 'Lyrical Cello' programme, featuring Falla's 'Suite Popular Española'; an arrangement of six of the 'Seven Popular Spanish Songs' about all the different aspects of love arranged for cello and piano, the beautiful cello sonata by Chopin, 'Bei Männern' Variations from Mozart's masterful 'Magic Flute' Opera and a rarely-heard sonata by Dutch composer, Henriëtte Bosmans, which dates from 1919, the same year as Elgar's infamous cello concerto.

Miriam Roycroft and Lance Coburn present their 'Lyrical Cello' programme, featuring Falla's 'Suite Popular Española'; an arrangement of the 'Seven Popuar Spanish Songs' about all the different aspects of love arranged for cello and piano and the beautiful cello sonata by Chopin; one of only nine compositions he wrote for an instrument other than the piano and now considered to be one of the pillars of his latter years. They will also perform the charming 'Bei Männern' Variations from Mozart's masterful 'Magic Flute' Opera which date from Beethoven's early period and were destined for the salon. Also included is the rarely-performed sonata by Dutch composer, Henriëtte Bosmans, which dates from 1919, the same year as Elgar's famous cello concerto. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear this sonata which Miriam and Lance recently performed at the 'Female Composers Series' at the NCH to great acclaim.
